May 17, 2011  Mr. Goenner received his B.A.S. degree in 1980 in Elementary Education. It was earned at the University of Minnesota in Duluth, Minnesota (UMD). He is his school's science specialist for grades four through six. He has received special training in Computer Technology at the IBM Corp. in Minneapolis. He has also specialized in technology at the Tech Center at the U of M in Duluth for technology integration into the classroom. Mr. Goenner taught 8 years as an elementary education teacher at St. Boniface School in Cold Spring, Minnesota and has been teaching for over 23  years as a science and math specialist at St. John the Evangelist Elementary School of Woodland in Duluth, Minnesota.

Mr. Goenner was named a finalist in the 2012 Honor Teacher  Awards for the State of  Minnesota's Private and Independant schools.                                                   Mr. Goenner was Awarded Northern Minnesota's 2010 Teacher of the Year Award by the Air Force Association.

This haiku is based on a trip my dad and I took into the BWCA. Pictured are

my dad and I as we camped in Northern Minnesota in the BWCA. Haiku is a

beautiful form of Japanese poetry. The form this natural poetry takes is three

phrases of syllables in lines of five, seven, and five. Students see this form of
